UUFCC Nominating Committee Information

What positions make up the Board?

The Board of Trustees for the UUFCC consists of the President, President-Elect, Treasurer, Secretary, and three additional Trustees. The President-Elect serves a four-year term, two years as President-Elect and two years as President. The Treasurer and Secretary are each elected for two-year terms. Trustees serve three-year terms. By design, these individuals complete their terms in a rotating manner. This means that each year new members must be elected to positions.

How are nominations accomplished?

A Nominating Committee is created to prepare a slate of one or more candidates for soon-to-be vacant offices in the coming fiscal year. Candidates must be members of the UUFCC. Here’s the timeline of events:

September/October: An ad hoc committee of the Board submits a list of at least three candidates for the new Nominating Committee. The Board approves the names.
Mid-year meeting (November): The congregation approves by vote the names of candidates for the Nominating Committee. Work begins!
April 15: Deadline for the Nominating Committee, after consultation with the minister and the Board, to prepare a slate of candidates for vacant positions to the Board.
30 days prior to Annual Meeting: Deadline for anyone wishing to self-nominate for any vacant office. The nominee will be included in the notice of the meeting and on the slate at the Annual Meeting.
Ten days prior to Annual meeting: Deadline for notification to UUFCC members of Nominations Committee slate and any self-nominations
Second Sunday in June: Annual meeting and election of Board officers. Board members assume office at the close of the meeting to which they are elected.

This timeline is taken from the UUFCC By-Laws

Is Board work right for me?

Serving on the Board is highly distinguished service within our Fellowship and the rewards can be many. It opens avenues for a member to affect the direction of the Fellowship for things he/she is passionate about. It also allows a person to see the UUFCC through a lens different from that of other committee work. Board work is ideal for individuals who are interested in organizational dynamics and policy. The most successful members are those who are, among other attributes:

  • forward-thinking
  • caring
  • good communicators
  • committed to forwarding the UUFCC mission and ideals
  • strong in problem-solving and consensus building
  • flexible; open to change

Board Vacancies beginning June 2022:

  • President-Elect
  • Secretary
  • Trustee (2)
